Springfield Armory continues to add pages to its catalog when it comes to the new Emissary series of “refined” M1911s, this week announcing a new Commander-length model in 9mm.
Debuted late last year as a series that blends defensive and custom pistol features to create an aesthetically-pleasing M1911 that is still very capable, the original Emissary was a government-sized railgun in .45 ACP. Then three months later came a 9mm variant as well as a Commander-length .45, this week’s announcement is a logical expansion.
“With its more compact slide and barrel length and the ever-popular 9mm chambering, this newest addition to Springfield Armory’s 1911 family of pistols provides an excellent option for a defensive handgun with an added level of refinement,” says Steve Kramer, Springfield’s VP of Marketing.
The 9mm Emissary model as shown still uses standard M1911-style 9mm mags and ships with two 9-rounders with an MSRP of $1,349.
Are Springfield Armory 9MM guns good?
The Springfield Armory XD(M) Competition Series is a seriously great set of guns. It’s highly accurate, extremely reliable, and its streamlined design allows for a balanced, lightweight hold. Whether you are looking for a home defense weapon or need a new competition piece, definitely try out the XD(M). These weapons are also available for civil customers.
